As October is slowly coming to its end, it was finally time to celebrate Elle Style Awards here in Finland. Nothing would have had me missing out on our biggest fashion event, especially since I’m still officially this month's cover girl. Well, there was many reasons why I made sure to find myself in Finland for the annual fashion gala, our Finnish fashion industry is going though some exciting times, gathering more support and press than ever, so naturally and you can count on me to be right there to maximise the hype.
My dream of having my very own design vision come to life (should I say again, as it’s been a while since I’ve taken on a design project!) was made possible by Finnish designer, master of draping Katri Niskanen. I wanted a sleek jumpsuit with a lot of drama, almost a mashup of a suit and a ball gown and the results were amazing, although I say it myself. This was the garment that kept on giving, as it told a different story from every angle. The balance of fabrics, the draping and structure, so effortlessly put together in a way Katri only knows how.
As I’ve lately grown part of the Elle family, I had the privilege of presenting this years accessory award, which rightfully went to shoe designer Minna Parikka! Her creations are available in Selfridges and Harrods - my regular London hangouts.
