Shoe of the Year: Gucci Marmont pumps

Gucci 'Marmont' pumps | Vetements hoodie | Vetements jeans

Gucci Marmont leather pumps (as if you haven't seen these before)

While deciding on this months shoe, I realised that there is a pair in my closet that has performed above and beyond this year. A pair that I’ve worn to death and I certainly know that I don’t stand alone in these heels. My Gucci Marmot pumps entered my shoe closet in March and has served me loyally ever since. We’ve accepted that Gucci took us to church and back this year, may the sprinkled logo stamped, ever growing collection here on the blog be my witness. Not to forget that the ‘Sylvia’ mules that so gracefully starred as SOTM in March. Hence, we welcome, shoe of the… YEAR ; The Gucci Marmont pumps in a ever so classy black leather finish!

The golden, double G studded shoe that undoubtedly is part of most industry girls closets, wins hands down because of the sweet balance of comfort, style (=sass) and wearability, I have not grown tired of these although I’ve witnessed the shoe in so many colour and style combinations that you would think Gucci is giving these away for free.

So on behalf of all heel lovers out there we thank you, Alessandro Michele. A man who so very rightfully took home the accessory designer of the year award at the British Fashion Awards and gave us a wearable runway shoe that has eased us (ever deeper) into the ever so weird world of granny chic.

Comfort: 5/5
Yes, these shoes are indeed such a comfortable pair, that overwear has lead to overtear, meaning - I’ve exhausted these shoes, insisting on taking them with me on every trip this summer (including the beach hols). The arch is perfectly shaped for comfort and the chunky heel has had me running (yes, running) around in these without the use of a single Compeed.

Quality: 5/5
The golden details and soft leather finish, these shoes have been my go to pair in 2016 and the quality has definitely met my expectations. Despite some small signs of wear and a slight strech, these are still in a perfect condition. Including the original outer leather sole, which is something I find replacing surprising often on my designer shoes.

Purchase price: £440 (tax free) at Gucci Heathrow T5, March 2016.
The marmot pumps comes in a variety of colours and models, the high heel is available at the moment in suede, leather and a metallic finish, in 10+ different colours. You’ll definitely be able to find a shoe to your liking as these come in ballet flats, high and mid-heel sandals, mid-heel pumps, a new mule, ankle boots and knee boots. Shop the full collection below.

Sizing: Runs true to size but has stretched out with wear quite a bit, so I recommend going half a size down with the leather and suede versions. The metallic version does not stretch as much so take your normal size if that’s your choice of finish.
