Miu Miu Jewelled Satin Slingback 105 mm pumps in sage
October, surely the last chance to introduce a pre-fall shoe? This time the title of ‘shoe of the month’, rightfully goes to Miu Miu that introduced a rage of dainty, satin slingback pumps in their pre-fall collection - bejewelled and bedazzled with pearls and diamonds in a way only Miu Miu perfects. How they manage to reinvent the girly, embellished pumps every goddam season is beyond me, but I guess I’ll continue to say “I’ll take them” with a huge, greedy grim on my face, until the day I die.
The pearl button slingback came out late summer in a colour range of sage, apricot and black, and have since been remade for fall. However the fall shoe comes in a slightly more festive version (simply think more diamonds), these can be shopped in everything from satin heels to a leather buckle version. The range also stretches to tartan kitten heels, but I think we’ve entered a different shoe by now - with Miu Miu these styles are endless.
A comfortable shoe that sits beautiful on the foot - as long as you get the fit right. Hugs your feet and are light to walk in, the satin is forgiving when it comes to the fit and won’t leave your toes squashed.
You know your risks when buying into a pair of satin shoes, right? Opt for inside wear or be aware of the weather when taking them outside. While the quality is top-notch, the satin finish and leather sole make these a pair almost too delicate for wear.
Purchase price: £645 at the Miu Miu Bond street store August 2017. The pumps come in a variety of colours and finishes; the style was carried through to the fall collections, but with a bright colour makeover. Shop my picks below.
Sizing:Runs a little on the big side, like Miu Miu usually does. Go half a size down if possible, these delicate shoes require the perfect fit.
Conclusion: Click these home if you have a long list of christmas parties lined up, BUT make sure these are all inside cocktail events that are hosted in a chic hotel lobby-type of environment. For the love of god, don't let these encounter snow (or slush for that matter) and do not under any circumstance get so drunk that you soak these in mulled wine. If this sounds all too risky, maybe a leather pair is a safer choice for you this fall.
