Amina Muaddi Unveils High Summer Collection

24th June 2020

Muaddi is going even bolder with her new collection called ‘Show Me Your Shoes.’

Amina Muaddi SS20 range includes a lot of crystals, here pictured the new ‘Jade’ sandal, The ‘Gilda‘ and the ‘Zula’ in PVC and suede.

A lot has changed the past six months, but not shoe lovers’ appetite for anything with Amina Muaddi’s signature on it.

In the midst of lockdown, her capsule collection for Mytheresa sold out instantly and now there’s even more excitement for the label’s brand new high summer ’20 collection.

Always keeping it under wraps until it’s about to drop into stores, Muaddi started teasing the collection on her Instagram about a week ago. It’s called “Show Me Your Shoes,” which will straight away give you a clue about the bold, in-your-face attitude the designer embraced for this collection: The crystals are getting bigger, the sequins brighter and we’re seeing bows and sharper, triangular toes being added to the mix.

Among the highlights is the new ‘Julia’ sandal, featuring large Swarovski crystal and the brand’s signature cone-shaped heel in plexi, as well as the ‘Zula’ sandal done in black suede and featuring some very glamorous crystal laces that tie all the way up to your legs – a new winner it seems.

Muaddi is also playing with a lot of transparencies after the success of the ‘Begum’ pumps, now introducing the silver ‘Julia’ glass-like mule – a barely-there sandal featuring clear PVC and spikes, that’s bound to catch the eye of anyone who loves to dare with their fashion choices.

There are also more familiar styles, including the ‘Gilda’ sandal which Muaddi calls “every woman’s best friend.” For high summer ’20 she reimagined it with rainbow-hued crystals
Clearly, Muaddi is not afraid of anything that’s loud, sparkly, or statement-making. In fact, she’s getting bolder with each collection and holding on to her relevance with just the right amount of newness.

She is also introducing this collection with a series of more lo-fi, almost blurry images shot during lockdown via FaceTime with photographer and friend Vito Fernicola. Interestingly the glamour factor translates just as well, and will no doubt be welcomed by Muaddi fanatics all over the world who are craving to dress up again.

Prices range from 620 pounds to 900 for the new ‘Julia’ sandals and the new styles have been dropping on the sites of the brand’s key retail partners, including LuisaViaRoma and Matchesfashion, which for the time being has the most comprehensive online edit.

Pro tip? For those with a soft spot for leopard print and neon pink who might have missed out on the Mytheresa exclusives last March, some styles are currently being restocked on Mytheresa right now.
