Colour and creativity flooded the streets of Copenhagen.

Copenhagen fashion week

Scandinavia’s fashion capital kicked off fashion week season with a array of colourful ensembles. Show attending guests opted for their most unapologetic accessories in the form of sparkly boots, highlighter neon pumps and platforms boots. Sock boots also made a surprise return, without forgetting some seasonal it-shoes like Bottega Veneta wellies and Valentino chunky boots. Here we list the week’s most inspiring shoe choices.

Stella McCartney’s sparkly Lurex boots made waves early on in the season and makes the perfect fashion week shoe. Embellished boots grew into a unexpected trend during the lockdowns and continues as one of the most dominant styles within the fashion crowd. Dressed up or down – these are instant eye-catchers.

Colour-blocking in the most shocking way, bright pumps was the unofficial fashion week shoe of Copenhagen. Shocking pink was the instant mood booster, paired with other brights that not even rain could stop.

Bottega Veneta’s ‘Puddle’ wellies was in high rotation, offering a more practical shoe for the wet streets. The wellies that has grown into a Bottega signature, comes in numerous bright colours as well as a high boot and sandal for the warmer weather.

Balenciaga’s signature sock boots made a return to the streets, mainly through the Gucci x Balenciaga collaboration that dropped late last year. Being a somewhat sensible choice for pre-spring fashion, pull on boots was there to offer a warmer (and more fashion forward) alternative to pumps and tights.

Perhaps one of the bigger trends – towering platforms were no fashion week surprise. More and more designers are embracing the sky-high heel, from Saint Laurent to Versace. Sleek platforms were frequently featured, both in forms of boots and pumps, so expect this style to go big in the coming months.

Last year’s most popular boots – the chunky lug soles have evolved into a classic style and now come in all colour ranges. White and neutrals were a dominant hue in Copenhagen that designers like Valentino and Bettina Vermillion have mastered.

As a nod to lockdown fashion, furry slippers have grown into streetwear and doesn’t just come in the forms of home slippers any more. Heel specialists like Amina Muaddi and Bottega Veneta has released their own versions too, with a result that mostly makes sense for quickly street style fashion. The added comfort is a plus.

Just as popular as pink – neon yellow pumps were a fashion week crowd favourite. Paired mostly with matching accessories, bright pumps were the perfect energy boost for the grey streets. Amina Muaddi and Balenciaga have fronted the trend for seasons already but there is no signs of this style slowing down.

Chains-embellished shoes have been a persistently trending for a few seasons now, and for the winter months the focus was on boots. To balance out the chunky boots trend – sophisticated, heeled boots with chains made a strong statement and is a style we will be wearing into the warmer months, too.

Grass green has long been the colour of the season, especially when it comes to accessories. Bottega Veneta’s signature hue have had an influence in other departments too, as bright green were seen on coats and dresses during fashion week. Look for a statement pair of evening boots to complete the look, or contacting soles with more variety in the styling.
