Noone loves fantasy and a good daydream more than Christian Louboutin. So now that travel and social interactions are restricted, the famous shoe designer was quick to adapt by indulging in all things fantasy and dreaming up alternative universes using virtual reality.

When it came to presenting his new fall 2021 collection this week, Louboutin created his very own Loubi Airways, complete with a white-and-red airport – where security doesn’t confiscate your liquids – chic lounges filled with red velvet sofas and a plane packed with shoes and bags from the new collection.

The designer himself also makes a flash appearance to make the security announcement: “In case of loss of cabin glamour, please don’t hesitate to ask our staff to show you the new fall 2021 styles,” he jokes.

You can then start navigating the Loubi Airways virtual plane, where new fall 2021 styles pop up every time you click at a different section of the plane.

Just like its surroundings, the collection is glamorous, highly decadent – and optimistic about the return of dressing up in high heels and all things bold and sparkly come next fall.

The infamous ‘So Kate’ stilettos were reimagined in a high-gloss leather; a new metallic needle heel made an appearance on patent pink sandals and ankle boots; and pumps featured funky Tarot-card prints.

Aware that some women might not be willing to completely give up on the comfort they’ve become so used to this year, the designer also expanded his offer well beyond his signature stilettos to equally glamorous Mary Janes, done in upbeat pastel colours and crystal-embellished block heels; kitten heels featuring pin up-inspired gingham patterns; or flat sandals with raffia embellishments.

High heel, block heel or no heel, it’s time for optimism, brighter colors, clashing prints and all things glamour as far as Louboutin is concerned – here’s to hoping that come next fall, Loubi fans around the world can go back to strutting through real-life airports in his shoes.
