The London-based label is all about blending edgy style with traditional craftsmanship, with the designers coming from a family of traditional Turkish footwear artisans, designers, and design teachers.

Missing an edge in your shoe closet? Then you should get to know and follow Havva Mustafa, the London-based independent label all about shoes with attitude and the right touch of humour.
The brand is the brainchild of brother-and-sister duo Havva and Ali Mustafa, two young creatives with a flair for youth culture and street wear, but equally a long lineage in the art of shoemaking.
Their aim has always been to marry a young, edgy attitude with craftsmanship and top-end quality, having grown up in a third generation family of traditional Turkish footwear artisans and designers. In fact, the duo’s father is one of the leading teachers at London’s famous fashion and design school Central Saint Martins, teaching the technical side of shoemaking. Havva has followed in his footsteps teaching design and sketching.
Shoemaking is a true family affair for the Mustafas and many of the most prominent young names in the shoe world, including Julia Nodaleto and Jennifer Chamandi, have passed through their classrooms.
When it comes to their own label, Havva and Ali are all about bringing an edgy, lighthearted attitude to their shoes, which are all about rugged soles, chunky heels, monochrome colour palettes and tough-looking hardware.
Their idea of a perfect vacation sandal for instance, is a Birkenstock-style sandal with chunky gold hardware across each strap, while the brand’s rugged boots, all about chunky soles and sturdy heels, are among the most popular in their offer. Look out for signature, tongue-in-cheek details in the forms of slogans like “Cool Girls Don’t Sleep” or “Bad Behaviour” embroidered on the backs of boots or printed on zips.
Other highlights include Texan-inspired boots, trendy strappy sandals, and pumps featuring flame prints or embroideries of broken hearts – adding that edge the Mustafas love so much.
This cool girl attitude has already been resonating with many power women around the world, from Lady Gaga, to Paloma Faith, Miley Cyrus and Ashley Benson.
The brand has recently been building further onto this success, by pushing the sustainability agenda too, with a focus on seasonless styles – including those tough, block-heel boots – and small batches of new seasonal styles, produced by local craftsmen in the designers’ home of Turkey.
Havva Mustafa shoes can be pre-ordered and purchased on the label’s website, with prices ranging from 280 pounds to 500 pounds.
You can have a closer look at the shoes and all the cool girls wearing them on the brand’s Instagram. And make sure to scroll through the designer’s personal feed too for more intimate insights into her design process, artistic inspirations, and modernist style.
