Bionda Castana’s creative director is back with a new sustainable business model and we recommend following her journey.
Natalia Barbieri is a personality in the shoe world to know and follow, if you’re into femininity, elegance, sustainable luxury and all-round positive vibes.
Barbieri is the creative director of Bionda Castana, a London-based footwear label which was launched over a decade ago and built up a strong name in the business with a celebrity following and some of the biggest luxury retailers stocking its collections. But Barbieri, alongside her partner Jennifer Portman, took a brief hiatus from their business and have now returned with a new, sustainable model where they offer some of the brand’s greatest hits from the archives on a pre-order basis. Once a customer places an order online, the shoes are then hand-made in Italy just for them and delivered within five weeks – the idea being to create less waste and hit pause on our obsession with all things new.
Barbieri’s Instagram account, @iamnataliabarbieri, is a great place to find out more about this interesting new business model and see the Bionda Castana shoes being re-released up close, including some beautiful bejewelled block-heel sandals, leopard-print booties and the brand’s signature mesh and leather panelled pumps, first made famous by Alexa Chung. As a bonus, you also get a peak into the designer’s life as a new mother and entrepreneur, as well as her refined taste: Expect gorgeous interiors shots and plenty of feel-good patterns and bright colors.
