Liudmila designer Najeeba Hayat is one to know for her dreamy shoes and fierce attitude.

Liudmila is an emerging footwear designer to know and follow for many reasons: Firstly for anyone with a passion for shoes Kuwait-based designer Najeeba Hayat offers dreamy, statement pieces that transcend trends and encourage you to escape into an alternative universe that’s all about decadence, glitter, bold colors and a badass attitude.

Her inspirations include everything from Marie Antoinette to Victoriana and the Power Puff Girls but the underlying message is always the same: Statement designs for fierce women.

Some of her signatures include lace-up boots that come in a variety of shapes, from a flat thigh-high version to a pointed-toe high-heeled one; as well as crystal-embellished sandals in animal print or pumps in candy colors and a curved heel inspired by the Victorian era. In other words, shoes to get noticed in.

Hayat offers a closer look to both the shoes and her fantasy world on her Instagram where she shares the shoes in action on fans of the brand like Bella Hadid, Rita Ora or Bella Thorne but also on herself – usually paired with embellished or ruffled Christopher Kane dresses, Clueless-inspired check skirts and plenty of snake and zebra prints.

In fact, Hayat has a personality as colorful and animated as her shoes and she lets a raw, unfiltered version of it come alive on her Instagram feed. For as many glossy shoe close-up shots she shares, she’ll also talk openly about her views on sustainability and the industry’s environmental impact, the reality and challenges of being a young shoe designer trying to run a business and most recently, testing positive for Covid-19.

Hayat was brave to share her journey of contracting the virus, the precautions she took not to infect anyone else, the symptoms she experienced, quarantining at a Kuwait hospital and the importance of staying at home, all on a series of Instagram stories that went viral this week.

During a time when connecting with each other’s experiences and supporting smaller businesses has never been more important, Hayat’s journey is definitely one to watch.
