The Georgian label is the new name to watch in the footwear world and beyond.
Tbilisi is one of fashion’s newest hubs, with many prominent young designers coming out of the Georgian capital lately and grabbing international attention.
Mach and Mach, which is designed by sisters Nina and Gvantsa Macharashvili, is the latest Georgian name to grab the fashion set’s attention. Its fall 2020 footwear debut during Paris Fashion Week last week stirred a lot of excitement given the joyful, feminine nature of the shoes: Think sparkly bows, pearl-encrusted straps and fierce pointed-toe pumps with PVC panels. The label still remains an insiders’ secret, only sold at a few key retailers like Moda Operandi and personal shopping platforms like Threads Styling. So adding it to your Instagram feed is probably the best way to get acquainted with its playful aesthetic and keep up with all the label’s news. You’ll find close-ups of the new shoe collection and also get an insight into the brand’s world, which also includes bags embellished with the same sparkly bows as the shoes and highly photogenic ready-to-wear, ranging from a crystal-encrusted blazer to cool draped velvet dresses. The Macharashvilli sisters say that their aim is to offer a “futuristic, pop” aesthetic – and it sure comes as a refreshment to the stark minimalism overtaking the catwalks at the moment.
