The new shoe label by Carlotta de Luca is one of the most promising up-and-comers in this year’s footwear scene.
The beginning of a new year heralds in a clean slate and a feeling of starting fresh – so we’ve been looking at refreshing our feeds and spotting new shoe talent that will have an impact in 2021.
Maria Luca is one such brand: The label was founded by Carlotta de Luca, a footwear veteran who previously ran the shoe brand Carline de Luca and consulted across the footwear and design fields.
She gathered all her knowledge and experiences to create Maria Luca, her latest project and her way of writing a love letter to women around the world.
Inspired by the powerful, multifaceted nature of women, de Luca wanted to meld feminine and masculine style, to create a collection of elegant essentials, so women can go about conquering their goals and lives in great-looking shoes. The result is a well-edited collection – no product overload here – of sleek, modern styles that are all about subtle details and materful construction, such as the perfect square-toe ballet flat, everyday ankle boots that are just the right amount of chunky or strappy sandals embellished with the daintest gold chains.
But apart from a strong shoe collection, de Luca is looking to build a community too. Her ultimate aim? To encourage women to put “their left foot forward” which encompasses everything from overcoming challenges, taking risks or living life on your own terms. Give her Instagram account a follow to get better acquainted with her beautifully curated, modernist world and to watch the early members of the Maria Luca community talk about how they put a left foot forward in their own lives, from taking a chance at love, to risky career changes and raising children.
