The Italian shoe label is embracing a new, playful mood for 2021.
Milan Fashion Week is well underway: You might have already seen Kim Jones’ much-anticipated Fendi debut – we loved the F-shaped heels – or those Prada sock boots, and there will be plenty more good shoes coming to your screens, as the week continues to unfold.
We are paying extra attention to Paciotti, which is set to present its fall 2021 collection on Monday with the launch of a film. In the meantime, the label – one of Italy’s most established luxury players since the 1950s – has been teasing the launch all across its Instagram, which is filled with cinematic images or tongue-in-cheek illustrations – and is certainly worth a follow.
If the teaser poster for the film is anything to go by – it features a grand candle-lit bed and an elegant woman wrapped in a fur throw – the collection will embrace all things decadent and feminine, offering a welcome antidote to last year’s low-key, sombre mood.
Paciotti had already been seeing its popularity rise, ever since engaging stylist and shoe maverick Ada Kokosar to design its shoes. Kokosar introduced the ‘Archive’ collection, filled with delicious square-toe mules, modernist pumps and graphic patterns.
The pandemic might have slowed down the brand’s upward trajectory and forced shoppers to store their mesh Paciotti pumps away for a year, but it looks like it’s now back with a vengeance.
It’s ‘In der mitte’ line – which translates to in-between from Italian and is genderless – will be another focus for fall 2021. In a series of teaser images, the label’s new fall genderless styles, a mix of cool square-toe sneakers and chunky boots or loafers, are pictured having conversations between each other.
“Gender norms have to stop being something to fit into. Like these boots,” suggest one pair of peacock blue, Texan-inspired boots, while a pair of cool black brogues wonders if you would “rather eat carbs for the rest of your life or never use Instagram again?”
This attitude of taking a light, humorous approach to fashion; questioning gender norms; and celebrating beauty will surely keep the label at the top of the shoe agenda, this year.
