Wondering who will be the next name to know in the shoe world? Then you might want to look up Yume Yume and hit follow on their arty Instagram page.
At a time when chunky and extra comfortable shoes are still high in demand, Yume Yume’s padded leather flip flops and hiking shoes have been gaining ground. In the last year alone, top-end retailers like Matches Fashion, Dover Street Market and LN-CC have given their seal of approval and started carrying the brand.
So what’s all the buzz about? Aside from the cool factor of the brand’s chunky silhouettes, Yume Yume – founded in Amsterdam in 2018 by Eva Korsten and Dave Hendriks – stands out for their commitment to sustainable materials such as faux leather or recycled nylon.
The duo also makes a point to offer shoes that can suit city life as much as escapades in nature, with a range of hiking sandals in cool color-block or floral jacquard iterations among.
Other key styles, such as the popular padded flip flops, pay homage to traditional Japanese silhouettes mixed in with the designers’ futuristic vision – also visible in the glossy, fantasy-fuelled imagery seen all across the brand’s Insta-feed.
Our brand is for the dream builders, the people who dare to imagine and construct their own surroundings rather than purely inhabit them,” said the designers.
