Miuccia Prada – literally – stole the show during the latest spring 2022 fashion month. It all started with her namesake show in Milan, the first live show in collaboration with Raf Simmons, that offered one of the most original interpretations of the ’90s craze – and plenty of it-shoes, including sleek, sculptural wedges featuring extra pointy toes, trendy orange shades and the brand’s signature logo.
But it was a week later, during Paris Fashion Week, that Mrs. Prada got shoe lovers’ hearts properly racing when she teased a collaboration between Miu Miu and sneaker label-of-the-moment New Balance.
The Miu Miu collection, again one of the most exciting tickets in Paris, was all about giving a fresh take on “eternal, universal garments.” This meant classic shirts were reimagined in cropped form, traditional tailored trousers were reworked into extra mini skirts – and New Balance 574 sneakers, another all-time classic, were given the Miu Miu treatment with white, khaki or blue denim fabrics and frayed edges.
There’s also a double logo featured on the shoes, with the signature New Balance ‘N’ across the body of the sneakers and the Miu Miu black-and-white graphic logo printed on the tongue.
“The notion of reworking existing pieces extended to this collaboration,” said the brand in its show notes.
This is the first time that a major luxury name has collaborated with the sport’s label, marking another big milestone for the luxury sneaker scene.

The sneakers fit right in the new-season Miu Miu look that had a strong school girl or ‘Clueless’ flair. And needless to say they are bound to be a sell-out when they launch, given the resurging popularity of New Balance sneakers and their cool, vintage look in the last few years.
As New Balance keeps gaining fashion caché – with some of the most popular influencers and tastemakers pairing them with their trendy suits and Hermes Birkins – it has attracted many collaborators to date, including buzzy names like Casablanca and U.S.-based Staud. But this is the first time that a major luxury name has collaborated with the sport’s label, marking another big milestone for the luxury sneaker scene.
The brands will reveal further details and an exact launch date later this year.
