The stylish Scandi and Italian Footwear label join forces for an easy to wear collection of neutral toned sandals and mules
Pernille Teisbaek, one of the influencers responsible for turning the fashion world’s attention to her home of Copenhagen, is now trying her hand at design with a new footwear collaboration. Teisbaek joined forces with the Florentine shoe label Gia Couture to create a trendy spring 2020 capsule collection filled with square toes, neutral tones and minimalist silhouettes that reflect her easy-going Scandinavian aesthetic.
The range consists of three styles: Sandals featuring puffy straps and a curved heel; flat open-toe shoes and thong mules – perhaps the most directional piece in the collection. Everything comes in a square toe and muted brown, camel or white shades that were picked to suit a variety of skin tones.
Those elements also tick a lot of seasonal trend boxes that were started by Bottega Veneta and its popular Lido mules. Teisbaek undeniably tore a page out of Bottega designer Daniel Lee’s playbook with this collection, yet the range – whose prices start at 300 euros – will be accessible to a broader audience.
For Gia Couture designer Barbara Borghini, this was an opportunity to combine the brand’s expertise in shoe making with the cool, minimalist aesthetic Teisbaek represents so well.
I have admired Pernille and her style for many years. She stands out for her style, which is elevated and has lots of personality. She is never predictable but at the same time effortless,” said Borhini, also pointing to how the capsule melds Italian craftsmanship with Scandi style, as all the shoes have been handmade in the Gia Couture factories in Florence.
The collection, which first made its debut with a small industry presentation held at the Ritz during Paris Fashion Week last September, will drop in stores early February.
