As for the last stretch of fashion month, Parisian street style delivered in the form of embellished dresses, breathtaking Hermès ensembles and above all – stunning footwear. For peak transeasonal dressing, gladiator sandals were paired with long coats, socks were worn with minimal slingbacks and fur boots (a trend we will soon see a lot more of) made their seasonal debut. The usual suspects  – Amina Muaddi and sparkly sandals were still a crowd favourite, while Miu Miu’s and Loewe’s chunky platforms were frequent featured shoes, too.

Lace-up sandals, but not the shy kind. A maximalist take on the classic lace-up took more a glamorous gladiator shape on the street of Paris, as guests dressed their statement sandals with coats and silk blouses. Amina Muaddi’s AWGE collaboration sandals are still trending, while the newest showstoppers was part of Rosie Huntington-Whiteley’s second Gia collection.

Brown over-knee boots were strongly present at Milan fashion week as well,  as the stylish crowd took a break from the traditional black boots. Warm, autumnal tones are a classic, and thanks to designers like Jimmy Choo, Proenza Schouler and Manu Atelier, there is plenty of good caramel coloured boots this season to choose from.

Loewe was one of the many designers who presented platforms for AW21. These quirky, thick soled loafers stand out from the rest, and come in a wide variety of colours, as well as in two different cuts. Opt for a classic brown that will last you beyond the season, or a statement yellow to bring some colour to the colder months.

Acid green mules by Amina Muaddi, Gia Borghini and The Attico has been a firm fashion week favourite, from Copenhagen to Milan, and continues to be the shoe of choice. These shoes has been seen paired perfectly with other bright colours or as a statement shoe with a more minimalistic, Parisian wardrobe, these is currently nothing these shoes does not go with.

Hermès put minimalistic clogs back on the map for 2021. The fashion crowed can’t get enough of this comfortable trend, that was re-born under lockdown. Worn best with a tonal outfit, à la Hermès SS21 runway, other designers like Isabel Marant and Khaite have followed suit in a manner where there is now a clog for everyone.

There is something delightfully timeless about a pair of skinny silver sandals, something that Miu Miu and newcomer Pifieri knows well. A style that works for hot summer nights and equally well for the festive season – just add socks like in this full Miu Miu look. Vegan shoe brand Piferi collaborated with Ludovic Saint Sernin, and is an exciting brand worth adding to the watch-list.

Equestrian boots have a tendency to come around every fall, proving they are one of the most hardworking boots to invest in. Hermès leather riding boots will never go our of style, but online stores are currently filled with stunning alternatives. Toteme’s take is slightly more refined, while Ann Demeulemeester and Jil Sander banks on a classic shape.

As for the most adventurous trend of this coming cold season? That is surely sparkly, knee high boots. Known as the best autumnal pick-me-up, or the winter version of those embellished Amina Muaddi sandals. Designers like Victoria Beckham, Paris Texas, and more recently Coperni has fully embraced the trend with a ray of diamanté knee-high’s that is guaranteed to turn heads.

Miu Miu’s chalet chic winter collection is set to be this seasons most sought after, so it’s no surprise we saw the collection’s hero pieces pop up during fashion week. The chunky boot has been trending for a few seasons now, so if you are a fan of the black grunge boot, this chain-embellished version might be something for you.

Platforms are surely having a moment as designers like Prada and Versace showed sky high platforms for AW21. The evening version on the platform is both sturdy and embellished, perfect for celebrating the new era of dressing up again. A black pair is timeless without being boring, proven here with previous seasons platforms that manages to feel as relevant as ever.

It might be the combination of lockdown slippers, or shearling lined hiking boots we wore throughout the previous season, but furry shoes and boots of all kinds is a trend to watch for the season to come. Chanel and Miu Miu made flat versions part of their AW21 collections, while designers like Saint Laurent and Bottega Veneta has been featuring sterling and feathers for a few seasons now. From flats to OTK-fur boots, yeti fashion is about to be on everyones feet.
