Gherardo Felloni debuted a spring 2022 collection filled with bold party shoes and some of the highest heels he ever designed for the label – because ‘it’s time to party again.”

Roger Vivier is back in action, presenting a new spring 2022 collection at Paris Fashion Week that features some of the highest heels the French house has ever offered.
The new collection is all about high shine and bold colours, from glossy pink and neon orange mules featuring chunky platforms and the signature Vivier brooch; to glitter platform pumps; and metallic sandals featuring a stiletto heel adorned with a giant crystal cube – a nod to the crystal ball heels Roger Vivier originally designed for Marlene Dietrich in the 1940s.
Clearly creative director Gherardo Felloni is feeling the celebratory, party mood of the world reopening and socialising restarting.
It’s a lot of party shoes, everything is joyful because we have to go out and be happy again – creative director Gherardo Felloni.

Roger Vivier is best known for its kitten heels, but Felloni thought this was the best time to experiment with higher, more risqué silhouettes, as now more than ever women are craving glamour and partying in decadent dancing shoes. Still, the designer makes a point to ensure that the shoes are walkable with high platforms to provide support and chunkier heels. Cool creepers featuring chunky, rugged soles and sneakers – made more elegant with the Vivier metallic brooch – were also part of the new range.
I hate it when women can’t move freely, it’s kind of grotesque – Felloni added.

Felloni brought the collection alive in a film, launched on the brand’s Instagram, which tells the story of a lonely little boy who discovers a Vivier box with a magic potion and is able to transport himself to an alternative universe, filled with singing and dancing supernatural creatures and glamorous women, including the legendary Italian actress Isabella Rossellini. The film also features an original song, composed by Felloni himself, who got to work outside his comfort zone for the project and draw on his background as an opera singer. He even makes a flash appearance in the film, disguised as one of the fantastical creatures and singing his song.
This was all about narrating a story about the power of dreaming for Felloni and showing the enchanting universe Vivier’s shoe designers are part of. Even as the world reopens, the designer said he wants to continue telling those stories, experimenting with the digital realm and keeping things intimate. That’s why he chose to debut his new collection with a film instead of returning to the brand’s big Hotel Vivier presentations from the pre-Covid era. Instead, to celebrate the launch he hosted an intimate dinner in Paris, entertaining friends of the brand like Olivia Palermo and Coco Rocha with a live singing performance. Here’s to more evenings of dancing and singing in the sparkliest of Roger Vivier platform heels.
