WORDS BY NATALIE YIASSOUMI
We posed the question to 10 of the industry’s most dedicated shoe lovers.
This is a time where we face harsh realities, ask ourselves the tough questions we might have been previously avoiding and hit pause to re-evaluate life as we knew it.
But we’re strong believers that as we navigate this challenge, occasionally indulging in beauty, design and creativity is equally necessary. So in the name of escapism and our mutual love of shoes, we brought together a group of women – influencers, entrepreneurs, buyers and more – who inspire us for their sense of style, business savvy and strength of character. Together we dreamt of a time when isolation will be a distant dream and dress-up, fancy shoes and socialising will be back in our lives.
The result? A concoction of spring’s trendiest shoes and a series of dream scenarios of how to wear them: Influencer Tamara Kalinic and Mytheresa.com’s Tiffany Hsu both shared a soft spot for Amina Muaddi’s exclusive capsule for Mytheresa, which launched last week and sold out instantly; Camille Charriere was feeling more retro and dreamt of wearing her Nodaleto Mary Jane pumps for a night out dancing; while Bottega Veneta still remains one of the strongest contenders, with Maria Hatzistefanis and Tamu McPherson both craving the brand’s new sandals.

‘’The one thing i can’t justify wearing to WFH right now are my block heels, as they make too much of a clunk for my poor neighbours. I can’t wait to be allowed to roam free in these retro Nodaleto Mary Janes with a modern twist – surprisingly comfortable for dancing all night long.’’

“I can’t wait to wear these woven flats by Brother Vellies. I’m dreaming of a cute, short summer dress pair with these flats, their little fruit embellishments and a nice Aperol Spritz. I’d add a wooden beaded cross body bag to it too and I’d be ready for summer in the city.”

‘’I have so many shoes patiently waiting to make a debut, but a pair that I’ve been especially eager to wear is the Paciotti mesh pumps. I love the slight 90’s reference and chunky jewellery-like details on the delicate mesh – these shoes look like a piece of modern art.”

‘’These Bottega Veneta sandals can give any simple outfit an edge. I love how they wrap around trousers and how they look with short dresses too. The heel is super comfortable so all-in-all a win.”

“I am obsessed with prints and bright colours on shoes, even though I have nowhere to go atm. My current wardrobe is pretty minimal, so I like to pair it with fun and over the top [shoes]. Bottega Veneta is my all-time favorite brand, The Attico is also a great choice when it comes to flashy shoes and I truly love the animal print styles from our capsule collection with Amina Muaddi.”

‘‘I love the playfulness of colour, glitter and crystals of these Amina Muaddi sandals. The chunky signature heel makes the shoes very comfortable and with even the most simple outfit, like a t-shirt and jeans combination these shoes completely steal the show. They are the ultimate modern day Cinderella shoe’’

‘’I love these saucey, strappy red heels by Manolo. When quarantine is over, I dream of wearing these red kicks out for a celebratory dinner with friends, and commence a summer evening with drinks and dancing.’’
